Stephen Maynard Clark (April 23, 1960 - January 8, 1991)
15 years ago this Sunday, January 8, 2006, the world lost Steve Clark, co-lead guitarist of the band Def Leppard.
Unfortunately it seems too many people remember the sad things associated with Steve and the demons he battled and lost and overlook the fact that he was an awesome guitar player, performer and songwriter. I didnt get to see Steve perform live. But I am glad for what there is of Steve on audio and video recordings that I can still watch (and pick my jaw up from the ground afterward). People who met and knew Steve have said he was a kind, gentle person with a wonderful sense of humor.
My next words are from a marvelous web site about Steve:
Steve Clark Guitar
... He was a musician who knew the rules of music; he was classically trained; a guitar player who wore his heart on his sleeve every time he took to the stage. His soul bled through his guitar. He had the ability to produce the most stunning guitar riffs that would make you go WOW and gasp in awe! As a showman, Steve was the best! Its a simple fact that Steve oozed cool ...

We miss you, Steve!
